Casserole dish and Dutch oven reviews
Casserole dishes or Dutch ovens are mostly constructed of enamelled cast iron, which provides excellent heat distribution and heat retention. They’re ideal for cooking meals that require braising or searing and then slow cooking, where you want flavour to develop over an extended period of time.
We’ve conducted a range of cooking tests on popular casserole pots and Dutch ovens to find out which ones:
- perform the best when making brown rice, bolognaise sauce and oven-baked bread
- are easy to use, handle and clean.
We’ve also started testing bread ovens. These are specially designed with a large dome lid and shallow base, ideal for bread making. The results for bread ovens are not directly comparable to casserole dishes and dutch ovens, so use the “type” filter to compare within each type.
