I joined CHOICE as a content producer in July 2014 and am currently team leader of the household department. I write about a variety of products such as coffee machines, stick vacuums, bassinets, high chairs and ovens, which are tested by our in-house lab staff. Our reports help people make informed decisions about their purchases. We also keep manufacturers in check, regularly exposing product flaws which can result in better, safer products. Making a difference is what I enjoy most about my role. Prior to CHOICE, I spent 16 years working as a technology journalist in Sydney and London. I spent several years as a senior researcher/writer at our UK sister organisation, Which? Giving people access to robust, independent advice is something I have always felt strongly about. I'm also the author of several how-to technology books such as Spotify for Dummies and Digital Photography for the Older and Wiser and am a communications graduate of Charles Sturt University.  You can find me on LinkedIn.

I'm a home economist and test coordinator at CHOICE. I work in the kitchen lab, testing and comparing kitchen appliances. I am also involved in Test Research, helping manufacturers with product development for kitchen appliances such as microwaves, ovens and cooktops. I help conduct food taste tests and have been on the judging panel for a number of taste tests such as hummus, strawberry jam and pesto, and coffee when we test coffee machines. I also write recipes for our members on some of the food products that we test so they have the option of making the product themselves (like corned beef, baked beans and mulled wine). I have just been accepted as an associate judge for the Royal Agricultural Society and hope to be participating in the Sydney Royal Fine Food show this year. I started working at CHOICE in 1997 and previously worked as a dietary supervisor at a children's hospital. I have a degree in home economics and dietary supervision. I've been at CHOICE for over 20 years and have cooked over 8000 scones, 4000 chickens, 3000 sausages, 1000 meringues  and 500 pizzas, to test over 3000 appliances! I want to help consumers save time and money in the kitchen, reduce waste and landfill, and enjoy eating foods that they've prepared from scratch. I've always had a passion for food from a young age, as my grandfather was a chef, so I studied food technology and hospitality at school. After school I studied business administration and event management where I worked as a wedding planner for a few years, but when the position at CHOICE came up, I jumped at the chance to get back into the kitchen and have loved working in the kitchen lab as a test officer alongside Fiona Mair for the past eight years. Each week I help test a range of kitchen appliances and gadgets, from ovens, cooktops and air fryers to espresso machines, blenders, food processors, microwaves, frypans and more. We conduct practical, real-world cooking tests for all of the appliances we review, including how safe and easy to use they are. I also help out with our many taste tests and always find them interesting and educating. There's always so much to learn! At home I love to cook for family and friends, and am passionate about cooking good, wholesome food from scratch. I have two young kids and I want to make sure they eat a variety of foods, that they are exposed to different tastes and cuisines, and that they're encouraged to build a good relationship with food. I love the fact that I can help consumers choose the best kitchen product available that best suits their needs, while also saving them time and money.
