Good Points

  • Easy to use controls with digital display touch screen and control dial.
  • Selection of 6 pre-set functions for dough proving, chocolate melting, dough kneading, all-in-one cake, egg white whisking and Swiss meringue.
  • 9 warming levels, which can be used for melting chocolate and proofing dough.
  • Excellent result for melting chocolate, using melt function.
  • In-built scales – weighs ingredients directly into the bowl.
  • Good result for scale accuracy using in-built scales.
  • Clear written labelling and some prompts shown on digital display to assist user, such as which tool to use and 'to start, push dial'.
  • Pause/restart function.
  • Slow and high speed outlets accommodate optional accessories.
  • Light feature for in bowl illumination.
  • Mixing tool heights are adjustable.
  • Unit will not operate if motor head is lifted.
  • Two mixing bowls supplied – a 5L bowl and a 7L warming bowl.
  • The 7L warming bowl has two large D shaped handles which make it easier to grip the bowl when removing and replacing.
  • Easy to add ingredients while splash guard is on, good size opening. Chute also has a lid to prevent any splashing of ingredients during processing.
  • Shield is positioned onto the motor head around the beater, so the shield is lifted away from the bowl when motor head is lifted, this makes it easier to access mixture when scraping down the bowl.
  • 2 outlets for optional attachments.
  • Spatula and creaming beater included.
  • App connectivity using the Kenwood World app. The appliance does not have Bluetooth compatibility so you are unable to control the mixer using the app, however you can access a library of recipes suitable for your model – each recipe gives a step by step break down and also has additional features like an in-built timer.
Bad points

Bad Points

  • Deep 7L bowl can be difficult to scrape out mixture.
  • The 5L bowl does not have handles, only a small pouring lip around the entire bowl. OK to remove and replace.
  • Bowl may jam on after mixing, strength required to unlock it.
  • May need to adjust mixing tool height, this requires some strength to loosen the bolt. No adjustment tool supplied.
  • No eject button to remove beater, twist and unlock from position, hand can come in contact with mixture.
  • Splash guard is suitable for use with the 7L bowl only, not suitable for the 5L bowl.
  • Parts are large and heavy, OK to clean.
  • Extra attention required when cleaning both stainless steel bowls and stainless steel parts on the unit, which can show smudges.
  • Extra large 7L bowl is awkward to clean in a domestic sink.
  • Large bulky heavy unit, suitable for large quantities. May not accommodate small portions.
  • Difficult to store, best left on the benchtop. Lots of parts to store.
