Good Points
- Excellent results for all performance tests except for mixing a heavy batter.
- Very easy to use.
- Quantities will feed up to 6 adults.
- Very easy to clean; all components dishwasher safe.
- Comprehensive instruction booklet and recipes that are easy to follow.
- Scales that can be used as you go.
- Standby mode- switches to standby after 15 mins when not in use.
Bad Points
- Subject to a u003ca href=u0022https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/kitchen/all-in-one-kitchen-machines/articles/thermomix-sealing-ring-replacement-warningu0022u003eproduct recallu003c/au003e.
- This model is not recommended as it fails safety requirements: when heating above 60°C the speed setting doesn't cut out. (If speed selection is above six the heating is disabled, but if the liquid is hot to begin with, this might not prevent dangerous spillages. We also don't recommend this model because of the brand's substandard customer service.
- Expensive (now only available in the second hand market).
- Some mixtures can boil over into lid (lid has provision for any spillages).
- Boiled over slightly when cooking mash potato, mash potato browned on the bottom of bowl.
- Measuring cup sits loosely in lid and does not lock in place.
- Vibrates under heavy load. Note: Some batches of this product are subject to a 2014 recall due to a faulty sealing ring which could cause hot liquid to escape. Affected customers should have been sent a replacement, but all Thermomix users should check the sealing ring regularly for wear and tear, and replace it every two years at the latest.
