This ASUS Vivobook 14 is a sub-$1000 laptop that represents good value for money due to decent performance and features. Its screen is not great, though, and we found the keyboard lettering hard to see from certain angles. It comes with Windows 10 S Mode by default, which can only run vetted apps from the Microsoft Store, but can be switched to Windows 10 Home, which removes the app restrictions.
