Expert tester comments
For $549 (at the time of testing), the ASUS E510K Notebook PC represents decent value. Primarily, it has a keyboard that feels very comfortable to type with, and its large touchpad is smooth and equally pleasant to use. Being an inexpensive laptop, it means the processor isn't very fast, but the supplied Pentium CPU offers decent speed for everyday admin, communications, and enterntainment tasks that aren't gaming. Battery life wasn't great in our tests (4hr 25min average), and charge time was long (over 2 hours to get to 80 per cent), which may cause some frustration unless the laptop is always being used near an outlet and is travelling with its charger.
