Ikea Sundvik Change Table (2015 version)
Good Points
- 2 drawers and 1 shelf.
Bad Points
- Serious failure: The table failed our in-house stability test and tipped forward when force was applied at the foremost part of the open side of the change table top. Note that the change table was not secured to the wall when the test was performed. The instructions warn that the table must be secured using the supplied brackets to avoid injury. We don't think all consumers will do this; so we tested under the most difficult conditions. IKEA says the change table assembly includes securing it to the wall and it is confident that the change table will be safe in this configuration.
- Minor failure: The raised sides are less than 100mm regardless of whether a mattress is used.
- Mattress is not included.
- Bulky and heavy.
- Supplied as 199 discrete pieces, and took us about 2.5 hours to put together.
- The recommended mattress (pad) size was found to be very small for the actual size of this table. The IKEA website shows that the SKÖTSAM is a complementary mat for this table, but this was similarly unsuitable.Note: This version has been replaced with another, tested in 2024, which passes key safety requirements.
