Bad points
- Serious safety failure: Sliding button on the handle has a gap under enough which could potentially snag or catch onto a child's clothing, presenting a strangulation hazard.
- Minor safety failure: Finger entrapment hazard in the gap between the bottom of the gate and the fixed bottom bar, closer to the latched side.<p>Baby Bunting says it disagrees with our findings and says the gate "has been independently tested by an accredited laboratory to confirm that it complies with the EN Standards EN 1930 and American Standard ASTM F 1004. This includes strangulation and finger entrapment hazards clauses in both Standards". It says it "has not received any incident reports or customer complaints in relation to these hazards".
- Some sections need to be put together; and marking out the exact spots, and attaching the end posts takes some time and effort.
- Assembly and installation instructions don't have words and some might find them hard to understand.
- None to mention.
- None to mention.
- Serious safety issue: Limb entrapment hazard between bottom corner of the gate and the frame on the latched side.Dreambaby tells us it only tests to the European and US standards and "all gates globally are made to comply with one or both of these standards".
- Serious safety issue: Limb entrapment hazard between bottom corner of the gate and the frame on the latched side.Dreambaby tells us it only tests to the European and US standards and "all gates globally are made to comply with one or both of these standards".
- The wooden bars could get scratched and dented.
- Minor safety issue: Sections of the top edges on the top rail could scratch skin.
- Serious safety issue: Limb entrapment hazards between the frame and the vertical bars at each side of the door.
- Serious safety issue: Removable laminated labels and red button decal pose an ingestion or inhalation hazard.
- Minor safety issues: 1. Upper ends of two vertical bars have exposed tubings which could grate skin. 2. Finger entrapment hazards various openings including clamp knobs, latch handle and under the top hinge.
- Minor safety issue: Some edges on the plastic part of the hinge and latch could scratch skin.
- When installing, adjusting the bottom 2 clamps are difficult as the knobs are too low and rub against the ground.
- Tightening the clamps puts an enormous amount of pressure on fingers and wrist.
- None to mention.
- Possible for certain door widths to not fit the gate or extensions (e.g. 80 to 84 cm).
- Minor safety issue: The gaps at the lock for gate width adjustment pose a finger entrapment hazard.
- Serious safety issue: The gaps between the vertical side rails and the sliding mechanism could create a limb entrapment hazard.
- Working out the installation setup requires some effort.
- None to mention.
- Minor safety issue: Edges of the vertical bar on the handle side could scratch skin.
- None to mention.
- Swings open in only one direction.
- Very difficult to fully tighten the clamps due to the notches on them.
- None to mention.
- None to mention.
- Serious safety failure: Lack of secureness if only the upper hook is engaged and the lower hook is inadvertently left not engaged.
- Need both hands to open and close the gate to prevent abrupt roll-up; some effort to unroll when closing, and a bit fiddly to engage the catches, especially the lower catch.
- None to mention.
- Opening by pedal is fiddly as the pedal is small and you have to push the button using your toe at the same time.
- Minor safety issue: Metal 'fins' on both bottom corners could scratch skin.
- Minor safety issue: Plastic edges on the hinge side could scratch skin.
- When installing, gate is very difficult to align for it to work properly.
- Serious safety issues: 1. When used as a barrier, the hinges for the gate have projections that can potentially snag or catch onto a child's clothing, presenting a strangulation hazard. 2. Gaps on the handle and top rail pose a limb entrapment hazard.
- When used as a barrier it failed to remain secure on the door frame when a horizontal force is applied on the barrier (there are no wall plugs supplied to secure the barrier).
- Swings open in only one direction.
- Serious safety issue: The gaps between the thick vertical bars (gate posts) and the outermost vertical bars pose a limb entrapment hazard.
- Minor safety issue: The laminated warning label on the latch handle poses an ingestion or inhalation hazard, as it is small and easily removable.
