The Tern GSD is unique among e-bikes. It's a cargo bike, capable of carrying two kids or a full load of groceries on the rear rack, but with 20 inch wheels it's no bigger than a 'normal' bike. It's a bike that can be a practical alternative to a car for many trips. The GSD is a heavy bike, but the Bosch Performance motor makes light work of the weight up hills with assistance delivered smoothly at all speeds. There's space to add a second battery too. The bike feels reassuringly solid at speed, though its stiff frame and small wheels mean it can feel a bit 'harsh' on rough surfaces. The handling is good at lower speed, which makes the bike easy to handle around the city. The GSD is the most adjustable bike of all we tested, its telescopic seat post and handlebar meant riders of all sizes could get comfortable. While it's quirky and costly, and not a bike that'll suit everyone, if you're looking for a bike that can do more than most bikes, this Tern is well worth adding to your shortlist.
