Member update FAQ
As one of a small number of members who were recently impacted by a data swap issue, we’ve compiled more information on what we think are the most likely questions you’ll have.
Between 4pm on Wednesday 15, and 12pm on Friday, 17 October, up to 928 members could have seen a limited amount of another member’s personal information when logging into My account.
The only way another subscriber could have seen your personal data is to have accessed My account between 4pm Wednesday 15 October and 12pm Friday 17 October. In the vast majority of instances, it’s likely no one saw this information. If someone did, they only saw your information once.
The information was your first name, last name, billing and shipping address, email, and the type of subscription you hold with us. Your banking details were not visible, as they are always masked for security. Your data was not publicly accessible.
While we take any number of cases seriously, it is reassuring to report that less than 0.5% of our subscribers were affected. We are notifying those affected.
At this stage we are only aware of two members who noticed this issue during the period 4pm Wednesday 15 October and 12 pm 17 October Friday. Data security is something that we take incredibly seriously at CHOICE and we have extensive and robust systems in place to prevent external unauthorised users stealing your data from behind our firewalls.
We want to do the right thing by our members. We recognise the inconvenience this may have caused and value your trust in us. This is why you have been informed and offered compensation.
