Telstra broadband review

Telstra is Australia’s biggest internet plan provider, but how does it compare to the rest of the market? We scored the top providers on how fast their NBN speeds are and how satisfied their customers are.

How fast are Telstra’s NBN plans?

The ACCC’s NBN monitoring program records the internet speeds of Australian providers thanks to more than a thousand volunteers.

We take their data, published quarterly, and apply a scoring methodology to reveal which NBN providers are the fastest for a given plan and connection technology.

For more information and scores, check out our NBN provider reviews.

In addition to this, there’s also whether customers are happy with the internet speed they’re receiving, which we survey every couple of years.

At the end of each financial year, we combine the ACCC’s speed data with our most recent satisfaction survey results to figure out which internet service providers (ISPs) are the best in Australia.

The graph below includes a tab comparing overall speed scores for FY21–22.

Telstra came equal-second for this period with 94%, just 2% behind Launtel.
